What makes it somewhat surprising is that it’s in such stark contrast to companies that are firing employees instantly when they’re caught engaging in public racism. But I guess when one of your employees is seen being a racist ass by millions of people, the bottom line enters the equation, so maybe that’s the difference: The perception at least of university admins is that nothing is at stake. Maybe they’ll change their tune if their school starts to acquire a bad reputation?
